Based on the success of its online training programs, the Winpisinger Center is offering Online Steward Training beginning October 1. This program provides the basics for new shop stewards who want to be effective in their roles but cannot visit the Winpisinger Center for training. “This initiative is another step forward in expanding our members’ access to quality union education, no matter where they live or work,” said Winpisinger Center Director Mary McHugh.
Online Steward Training is open to all members in good standing who serve as stewards and will take place over three consecutive weeks beginning October 1. Each session is two hours long and will cover two topics. Sessions are scheduled three times during the week, providing our members flexibility to choose a time that works best for their schedules.
Week 1: Role of the Steward and Steward Rights & Responsibilities

Thursday, Oct. 2 8 p.m. EDT
Saturday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. EDT
Week 2: Grievances and Investigations
Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. EDT
Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EDT
Saturday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. EDT
Week 3: Just Cause & Discipline Cases and Contract Cases & Past Practice
