Billy has grown up around this industry, and specifically Whitney & Company. He enjoys getting to know clients on a professional level and having a meaningful impact on their lives. Today, he has eight years of direct experience in the financial services industry, along with an extensive background in business start-ups—plus a lifetime of learning at his father’s side (Bill Shaheen). That upbringing has made the financial services profession second nature for Billy and sharpened his instincts in a business he’s grown to love. He’s witnessed firsthand the evolution of the profession through the years, from an industry of money managers to one that requires a more holistic planning process and closer client relationships.
Fascinated by the stories behind individual businesses, Billy enjoys studying each one closely, connecting the dots, and helping with investment decision-making within the firm. His entrepreneurial mindset gives him a fresh perspective on how business works and how to spot companies that are functioning well.
His upbringing taught Billy about more than money matters. He learned the importance of giving back to the community from his father and grandfather, who used to take him around the region to different churches to support charitable causes like food drives. Taking good care of people, Billy says, is at the core of how he was raised. Today, he supports numerous philanthropic efforts, including animal welfare and an effort to help inner-city youth.
Billy earned his BS in Business Administration from St. John Fisher College.
