Service & Solidarity Spotlight: On-Set Visual Effects Workers on ‘Star Wars’ Productions Join IATSE

Working people across the United States regularly step up to help out our friends, neighbors and communities during these trying times. In our Service & Solidarity Spotlight series, we’ll showcase one of these stories every day. Here’s today’s story.

U.S.-based visual effects workers engaged directly by “Star Wars” franchise productions have joined the Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).

Staff overwhelmingly supported joining the union—they contributed to major titles like “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” “Ahsoka” and “Starfighter.” Now these newly minted members are looking forward to establishing a fair and strong union contract.

“These workers help bring some of the most ambitious stories in entertainment to life, and they deserve a meaningful voice in shaping their working conditions,” said IATSE International President Matthew Loeb in a press release. “We are proud to welcome these visual effects professionals into our proud Union.”
