Hispanic Heritage Month Profiles: Richard Fuentes

Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, the AFL-CIO will be profiling leaders and activists to spotlight the diverse contributions Hispanics and Latinos have made to the labor movement. Today’s profile features Richard Fuentes of AFSCME.

Richard Fuentes advocates for his community as a manager of special projects at BART, where he expands access to public transit. Fuentes advocates for his co-workers at the bargaining table as part of AFSCME Local 3993. As an LGBTQIA+ Latino, Fuentes knows that having a protected voice on the job helps ensure that everyone—regardless of background—is protected at work.
