Service & Solidarity Spotlight: Pittsburgh Regional Transit Workers Ratify New Contract

Working people across the United States regularly step up to help out our friends, neighbors and communities during these trying times. In our Service & Solidarity Spotlight series, we’ll showcase one of these stories every day. Here’s today’s story.

Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 85 have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement with Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT).

The 2,300 bus operators and maintenance and office staff are covered by the new contract, which includes a 15% pay increase over the lifetime of the deal, expanded freedom for senior workers to choose their routes and more.

“The great members of Local 85 have overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new contract which will enhance the wages and benefits for members and their families for the next 4 years! That’s how a democratic union works. It’s time to move forward together and enforce what we fought for,” the union said in a social media post.
