Being a mathematics teacher for 10 years prior to becoming a financial advisor helps me explain investing to my clients. My favorite unit, as a high school teacher, was always compound interest. We would do a project where we would tear a piece of newspaper 72 times and stack the paper up each time. Students were amazed to find out that after the 72nd rip that the stack would end up past the moon.
