Service over Self
Jeff Smart: A Legacy of Service, Leadership, and Local Expertise
For Jeff Smart, real estate isn’t just a career—it’s a lifelong calling. As a second-generation REALTOR® born and raised in the Tri-Cities, Jeff’s journey in the industry began at the age of ten, helping his father with administrative tasks and attending open houses as a family activity. Today, as the designated broker of HomeSmart Elite Brokers, Jeff carries on a 50-plus-year family legacy with a modern, tech-forward approach.
From Broadcasting to Real Estate Leadership
Before returning to his real estate roots, Jeff earned a BA in Communications from Washington State University and enjoyed a successful career in broadcasting and broadcast technology. His experience managing global distribution networks and designing distance learning systems for WSU gave him a unique perspective on the power of technology.
When he eventually returned to the family business, he integrated this expertise into the brokerage. By bringing the HomeSmart brand to the Tri-Cities, Jeff provides his agents and clients with world-class technology, ensuring a higher level of service and communication in every transaction.
A Champion for the Industry
Jeff’s commitment to real estate extends far beyond the office. He is a passionate advocate for property rights and the real estate profession, serving in high-level leadership roles at both the local and state levels:
- Tri-City Association of REALTORS®: Serving in elected leadership (Treasurer to President) to support and elevate the local real estate community.
- Washington REALTORS®: Jeff has served as the State Treasurer and was elected to serve as the 2024 President of the Washington REALTORS®, representing over 20,000 members and advocating for homeowners in Olympia and Washington D.C.
His leadership ensures that the voices of Tri-Cities homeowners and REALTORS® are heard when it comes to legislation affecting property ownership and small business rights.
Rooted in the Tri-Cities Community
When he isn’t advocating for his clients or leading the state association, Jeff is deeply involved in the local community. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he stays active with the Community Hospital Equipment Lending Program (KCHELP). Jeff and his wife, Dani, are proud "empty nesters" who enjoy spending time with their five adult children and grandchildren. Whether he’s tending to his small farm in South Richland, riding his motorcycle across the Pacific Northwest, or pursuing his law degree, Jeff remains driven by a single philosophy: "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."
