Honoring Workers’ Memorial Day: IAM Union Remembers Fallen Members

On Workers’ Memorial Day, observed annually on April 28, the IAM gathered at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Hollywood, Maryland, to remember workers killed or injured on the job.

This solemn day serves as both a tribute and a call to action. At the heart of the ceremony was the recognition of IAM members who died in workplace incidents over the past year. Their names were read aloud in a moment of reflection, surrounded by the solidarity of union brothers and sisters along with family members of those who passed, dedicated to ensuring such tragedies are not repeated.

“The IAM members we remember today were more than just employees,” said IAM Union International President Brian Bryant. “They were mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors. Their work and lives will never be forgotten.”

Safety is a core value of the IAM, and the union continues to advocate for stronger protections, thorough training, and employer accountability. “We are reminded that it is our union’s most sacred duty to do everything we can to ensure our members’ safety,” said Bryant.

As we honor those we have lost, we also strengthen our resolve to fight for a future where workplace deaths and injuries are a thing of the past.
