IAM District 142 recently held its first convention in Las Vegas in six years. The conference featured speakers, including IAM International President Brian Bryant, IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes, and IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen, along with other union leaders and industry experts. Many discussions encompassed the recent political climate, including negotiations under the Railway Labor Act, and the importance of member education.
Delegates also voted on bylaws to shape the district’s future for the next four years. The leadership headed by District 142 President and Directing General Chair John Coveny emphasized the convention’s role in preparing for upcoming negotiations and legislative challenges. The convention aimed to engage members, set future goals, and strengthen the district.
