As preparations ramp up for contract negotiations with Raytheon, negotiating committee members from IAM Local 933 recently completed intensive Negotiation Prep training at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Hollywood, Md.
IAM members at Raytheon in Tucson, Ariz., produce highly sophisticated missile and defense systems that play a vital role in supporting the U.S. military and protecting national security. Through the Winpisinger Center program, the bargaining committee sharpened its ability to develop strong proposals, analyze the company’s financial position, and align contract priorities with the needs of IAM workers.
“IAM Union members at Raytheon are on the front lines of supporting America’s defense,” said IAM Western Territory General Vice President Robert “Bobby” Martinez. “When your work is this critical to national security, there is no question – these workers deserve a fair contract that reflects their skill, sacrifice, and the vital role they play in keeping our nation safe. The IAM is fully committed to ensuring their next contract delivers the respect and economic gains they have earned, and we will be with them every step of the way.”
“As workers on the shop floor, we know exactly what it takes to keep this operation running safely and efficiently every day,” said IAM Local 933 President and District Business Representative Junior Alegria. “Our members take tremendous pride in the work we do, and we’re heading into negotiations united and focused on winning the fair contract our families deserve.”
“Our members are a driving force behind Raytheon’s performance and profitability,” said IAM Western Territory International Representative Paul Shepherd. “They are key to the company’s success, and it’s only right that they share in the wealth they help generate. The IAM will work tirelessly to help Local 933 secure meaningful gains at the bargaining table.”
Raytheon workers will also receive support from the IAM International President’s Office and the IAM Aerospace Department to ensure they secure a contract they deserve.
IAM Local 933 represents over 1,300 workers at Raytheon Missile Systems and is southern Arizona’s largest private employer.
