IAM Succeeds in Gaining 900 New Federal Sector NFFE-IAM Members Through Internal Organizing

The IAM is celebrating the recruitment of 900 new National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) members from four months of internal organizing in the federal sector.

“We just wrapped up our second big push of the year on internal organizing in the Federal Sector and we are very proud to report the amazing success of our team,” said IAM Assistant Organizing Director Juan Eldridge. “These efforts have been focused on NFFE-IAM locations across a range of states, agencies, and industries. This time around we primarily targeted the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs, which led us into the Corp of Engineers and Forest Service as well. “

The IAM has been making a conscious and concerted effort to reach out to federal employees and inform them about why choosing to be a member is in their best interest. This surge of new members comes from that concentrated effort and the IAM’s prioritizing of organizing in recent years.

Special Representative Jerry McCarty led the strategic campaign with support from Grand Lodge Representative Sonny Martinez, Special Representative Art Jackson, Associate Organizer Bryan Conlon, and Associate Organizer Nakala Burney, in addition to numerous NFFE-IAM representatives who service the locations across the country.

“With the help of the IAM Organizing Department, NFFE-IAM is growing a culture of continuous organizing and assisting NFFE-IAM reps at locations across the country,” said McCarty.

“We plan on keeping this momentum,” said IAM Organizing Director Mike Evans. “Results like this are energizing for our movement. It’s great to see new members excited about their union representation. Our union is a democracy and we want everyone we represent to be involved.”
