IAM Union District 776 Members Join Together to Support Unhoused Fort Worth Community

Even with contract negotiations looming for many members of IAM District 776, it will never mean they don’t have time to be a team for good in their community.

Recently, those same members came together to provide vital food and other resources to those less fortunate – even drawing support from District 776 member and now Texas State Senator Taylor Rehmet.

In its third year, the annual District 776 Homeless Drive is an event meant to bring everyone together to donate and distribute critical needs in the community with compassion.

While the IAM has always been first in line for community services on and off the job, it is the locals and districts who maintain that relationship with their communities in times of need.

“Our retired President Paul Black shared something with me during his retirement party that I carry with me always: Never forget where you come from,” said District 776 Business Representative Eric Meriwether . “I’ve always lived by that, and it guides everything I do for our members and our community.”

To celebrate another successful community event, the members of District 776 enjoyed classic Texas BBQ and a promise of another successful event next year.

“IAM Union members show up in big ways, and this event exemplifies the commitment we have in the communities we represent,” said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Craig Martin. “Being a leader today means showing up and being a catalyst for change – good change.”
