Service & Solidarity Spotlight: Communications Workers Ratify Contract at UC System
Working people across the United States regularly step up to help out our friends, neighbors and communities during these trying times. In our Service & Solidarity Spotlight series, we’ll showcase one of these stories every day. Here’s today’s story.
UAW Local 4811 members who work as University of California (UC) communication, marketing and sales specialists (ComMaS) have ratified their first collective bargaining agreement.
The contract will cover about 1,600 staff across the UC system—they reached a tentative agreement in mid-September. Highlights of the deal include a nearly 28% wage increase, clear guidance around career progression and more.
“More and more professional staff are joining UAW 4811 every day, and this is how we will truly meet the moment and fight for the future of public higher education and our work,” said Adra Bowman, a ComMaS bargaining committee member.
