Service & Solidarity Spotlight: Staff at The Fresh Grocer Ratify New Contract
Working people across the United States regularly step up to help out our friends, neighbors and communities during these trying times. In our Service & Solidarity Spotlight series, we’ll showcase one of these stories every day. Here’s today’s story.
United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 152 members who work for The Fresh Grocer have ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement.
The contract covers meat, seafood and deli department staff at two Philadelphia-area locations. After approving the deal, members received immediate, across-the-board wage increases. Other wins include increased contributions to workers’ retirement savings plan, expanded bereavement leave and more.
“Congratulations to members of Fresh Grocer on ratifying a strong new collective bargaining agreement that benefits everyone,” said UFCW Local 152 Recorder/Executive Vice President Lisa Sanders. “The workers now have higher starting rates, annual wage increases, additional paid time off, and they maintain their good union benefits.”
