TCU/IAM Safety Instructors at Amtrak Complete Training Program

p>During the week of July 29 through Aug. 2, 2024, three new IAM CREST Associate Instructors from TCU/IAM Local 6649 representing Amtrak successfully completed a Train-the-Trainer program.

This specialized training is designed to equip instructors with the skills necessary to educate others about the risks associated with storing, shipping, loading, and unloading hazardous materials in the railroad industry. The IAM CREST Associate Instructors showcased their expertise and professionalism in delivering high-quality training.

The training modules, developed by IAM CREST aim to enhance existing programs provided by railroad carriers. Funded by a grant from the DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, this training exemplifies IAM’s proactive approach to high-standard education.

These individual modules can be presented to railroad carrier hazmat employees and cover critical topics such as identifying dangerous goods, understanding associated hazards, and following proper handling and shipping procedures.
